    Program Description: “Hiring Military Veteran’s”

    Recruiting has become a challenge across Oregon with historical lows in unemployment, even in our rural County.  The Oregon Employment Department announced on December 17th that Oregon’s unemployment rate dropped to 3.9%, the lowest comparable records dating back to 1976. Oregon is just slightly higher than the 3.5% November U.S. unemployment rate.

    These historically low figures have resulted in an increased focus on retention of qualified employees and a significantly smaller pool of qualified applicants to fill our open positions.

    Jennifer and Christina will share strategies for translating the military skills that veterans bring to your workplace.  This session will provide you with the opportunity to learn the about:

    • The experience veterans can bring to an organization and how to translate the skills learned while on active duty to your workplace needs
    • Oregon’s veteran’s employment demographic
    • Assimilation strategies for veterans coming into the workforce
    • How to leverage the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR)
